After a long flight—and several movies—Arthur Zambone , assistant copywriter at BETC/Havas São Paulo, has finally arrived in Cannes, France. Each day, the 22-year-old winner of Havas’ internal creative contest, Together We Cannes, is chronicling his new adventures. Here he gives a snapshot of Day 1:
22:05 GMT: Cumbica Airport, São Paulo
One year ago, Leonardo Belquiman and I received an unforgettable notice. We had won Havas internal creative contest: Together We Cannes. The idea that won was “Safe & Sound, ” an app that maps out safe spaces for members of the LGBTQA+ community and identifies businesses that do not promote diversity and inclusion.
Today, I’m just boarding a plane to travel the South of France and experience, firsthand, the Cannes Lions. I have so many mixed feelings in this unique moment. It makes me feel so glad to work with and be a part of a global network of people who believe in young talent and make these dreams happen.
The journey starts here.
16:30 GMT: Frankfurt Airport
After more than 12 hours in flight—with some movies and a few naps—we’ve landed in Frankfurt to make our connection to Nice in the South of France.
17:01 GMT: On the plane to Nice
Now, we’re just waiting to take off and fly to Nice. Fun fact: On the way to the plane, I just meet Sergio, who also works in advertising and is a friend of a friend of mine. Both of us are friends with Mariana Valadão—a fabulous illustrator from Brazil. It’s moments like theses that make me realize the world is so big and so small at the same time. We all are connected in some way.
And the journey continued.
19:52 GMT: Feels like Cannes
We finally arrived in Cannes and wow. Every corner of this place is Instagrammable. Havas BETC São Paulo Creative Directors Daniel and Rodolfo took me on a tour through the city. This got me so inspired and to see the Palais des Festivals right in front of me was really, really nice.
It was a long trip with varying time zones and airports. But at the end of the day, it was so good to breathe new air with new people and to experience what feels like a brand-new world.
See you tomorrow with new impressions.
