The world expresses love, hate, anger, surprise, annoyance, and trust in 140 characters. Now, Havas helia has built a whole new way to listen to tweets: As music.
“” is an experimental project to explore how data and emotion can shape the sound of electronic music. helia, with the help of partners Sheldon, Patchblocks, and Adoreboard, created the world’s first algorithms that measure the mood of a brand or celebrity conversation on Twitter, then translate that emotion into music.
As an added bonus, helia’s Ben Silcox says, the tool is giving a good name to what is typically seen as a dry and analytical practice: “This project has shown how online data can be brought into the real world to create something new and fun which can be enjoyed.”
