Before the podium, before the tears of joy, before the cheers, there is always a dream.
In support of Paris’s bid to host the 2024 Olympic Games, BETC created a film titled “La Force d’un Rêve” (“The Strength of a Dream”).
“It all came from a deep belief that to achieve great things, one must have dreamt of them before,” says Mercedes Erra, founder of BETC and executive president of Havas. “The strength of a dream is something anyone easily can recognize in oneself. Everyone has dreamt of something strongly and realized how great that force is. It is particularly true and relevant in sports.”
Unveiled at the Paris Philharmonic, the inspiring film aims to gather as many French people as possible around the Parisian bid, generating enthusiasm and mobilizing energy. With this campaign, BETC is positioning the 2024 Olympic Games to truly represent diversity. The team is working on a series of activations to illustrate and make this dream come to life in the coming months.
“What I find the most fruitful about Paris’s submission is that it is a great human and social project,” says Mercedes. “And that it has this very special dimension of the Olympic Games: the alliance of competitiveness and friendliness between nations. It is so rare. Are there many other worldwide initiatives that can both encourage records and unite nations in a peaceful spirit?”
Four cities are bidding to host in 2024: Budapest, Los Angeles, Rome, and Paris. The candidate city will be unveiled in September 2017 in Lima, Peru. As Mercedes says, “It’s not a sprint, it’s a marathon!”
